Choosing Park Gate Physiotherapy Treatments

There are a number of different physiotherapy treatments in the Park Gate area. Choosing the right one will depend on the kind of therapist you use, what your condition is and what will be the best treatment for it.

Who can benefit

In terms of benefiting from physiotherapy the list is nearly endless- if you work in an office osteopathy can help you to improve your posture. If you are an athlete sports massage and other treatments can help maximise performance as well as aid recovery while anyone who has suffered an injury or has a long term chronic condition can benefit.

The right therapist

The ideal therapist should have the right skills and level of experience. A good start is choosing a clinic that is part of the chartered society of physiotherapy. This means that they have committed to the right level of training in order to be part of the society.
Another thing to look out for is whether or not they provide a consultation. Ideally this should be before they outline any treatments. As well as being opportunity for the consultant to assess your condition it is also an ideal chance for you to ask any questions about the therapist, their treatments and their experience.
Generally speaking a therapist will often assess a condition by asking the following questions-

– What is the injury/condition?

– How did it happen?

– What is the injury/condition preventing you from doing?

– Is there anything else you want to be able to do?

– What are your expectations?

The right treatment

A therapist will then outline their plan of treatment for you. What they will do will depend on your condition- while people generally think of massage or exercise programs there are a lot of other possible options that a clinic could potentially offer you.
For example, clinics could also offer complementary therapies such as aromatherapy, hypnotherapy or reflexology. As the name suggests these can be offered alongside more “conventional” treatments in order to help people with their recovery.
Essentially every person is different- a plan that works for one client may not necessarily be appropriate for another. This is where the therapist themselves play a big part. If they are experienced and/or they are specifically trained in their particular field, then they are more likely to recognise issues and deal with them (for example someone who has worked alongside athletes for a long time is likely to have a better working knowledge of whether or not a client is training either too much or not enough and can offer advice on doing so more effectively as well as treating conditions.)
